Hideki Kaji makes happy music. And despite my love for Japan’s hardcore/powerviolence scene, I’m prone to listen to some indie pop from time to time. That’s why I’m happy to announce that Mr. Kaji is playing some shows and releasing a new e.p. pretty soon. His 1998 album Tea placed at the #100 spot on Rolling Stone Japan’s top 100 Greatest Japanese Rock Albums so start there if you have yet to listen to his music. This Swedish pop influenced songwriter is putting out Blue Boys Don’t Cry on May 20th and is going on a tour in July to promote it, so get out and catch a show.
